I was born at St Martins Hospital and raised in Bath, living in Combe Down and Freshford before attending university in Reading (studying modern history and philosophy in between playing rugby). I returned to Bath after university, barring a short stint working in London and joined Andrews Estate Agents in 1996. I spent 14 years with Andrews, managing their Newbridge Road, George Street and Camden Road offices in Bath and winning numerous awards for the company along the way. I joined the National Association of Estate Agents in 1998 and was one of the first estate agents in the country to successfully complete their CPEA property qualification. I was made a Fellow of the National Association in 2001. Having thoroughly enjoyed working in property in Bath, it has always been a dream of mine to work for myself and specialise in character property in my home town.

Outside of estate agency, I live with my family in a cottage in High Littleton, having moved from various homes in Lower Weston, Bathwick, Lansdown and Peasedown. My wife Clare is a midwife at the RUH and I have two daughters aged 7 and 2. When not working, I can usually be found in my garden, pursuing my goal of self sufficiency in veg for the family. I also grow specialist chilli pepper varieties and might occasionally escape to the South Coast for a spot of sea fishing (although my daughters think I’m incapable of actually catching anything).

Since walking into the property world at the tender age of 17 I have experienced what a huge part of everyone’s lives property has become these days. Therefore dealing with people ‘the right way’ is the reason we decided to launch Madison Oakley.

Prior to Madison Oakley I worked for an independent estate agent in Bath, Pullin Knight Estate Agents for 4½ years, running their Residential sales office. During this period I took great pleasure in building up a large client base, forming some excellent business relationships with local professional, developers and all types of purchasers from families to investors. Areas which have became second nature to me include; advising clients on investments, capital returns, yields as well as sourcing family homes for private purchase and negotiating on clients behalf. Before Pullin Knight I worked in Salisbury and Dorset for a large national firm gaining valuable experience in the corporate environment as well as the country market.

On the rare occasion I find myself away from the desk you’ll be sure to locate me in one of a number of places. Often back in my home village of Ebbesbourne Wake, near Salisbury, working on our smallholding or catching up with family & friends. We often frequent a very lovely traditional old English country pub called the ‘Horseshoe’ of which I highly recommend a visit. You’ll certainly hear of all the local gossip and how Mrs Foyle’s prize winning tomatoes are coming on for the year’s village fete!

Alternatively, being a car enthusiast the garage is often my second home. I certainly enjoy tinkering & restoring old sports cars with the recent project concluded on an iconic Nissan sports car, the GTR. Contrary to what you hear, there is not a maximum amount of times you can polish a car or clean an engine bay!

Music is also a huge passion of mine and every September with friends, I organise a music festival in Salisbury for charity. It’s set up in memory of a good friend, raising money to help talented young children pursue their sporting dreams on behalf of Milton Abbey school and is a fantastic weekend away in the middle of the Wiltshire hills. Nothing quite like it so if you enjoy good company, good music, fantastic food and drink, please do get in touch.

Keeping fit and partaking in a variety of sports and country pursuits keeps me more than active when the English weather permits.

We are very excited about the direction of our new company and thrilled at the response and feedback we have already had, emphasising that this was certainly the right move for us. Looking forward to working with old and new clients as we move upwards.
